Red Eye
By Jon Margulies and April White
Waiting for that red-eye plane
Caught between the gate and melon light
Trying to sleep in a high chair
Kept awake by fears I'll miss my flight
I need cotton clouds beneath me
A reminder of the lightness of being
I throw a suitcase through the sky
It demonstrate that wheels do not fly
I take one step, can't see ahead
I grab my heart to keep my head
CHORUS
I lay me down and lose control
I pick me up and take control
Waiting for a break in time
When the tunnel's cracked by a spear of sun
Keep diggin' with that spoon
Keep drivin' back the earth and tears
I need mother ocean beneath me
A reminder I'm a liquid being
Throw a suitcase overboard
It float gently towards the shore
I take one step, can't see ahead
I grab my heart to keep my head
Too far inside to go back now
Hold fast or you won't leave the ground
CHORUS
I lay me down and lose control
I pick me up and take control

Common Grace
By Jon Margulies
Don't point that in my direction
Can't you see that I'm helping?
Only loving, only making my invention
I made a point to be cautious
I put the words in a form that
Wrapped the point in
Something soft, an invitation
To the place where we can launch
A winged migration
I came to set you free
This place is killing me
But I will be your guide
And I won't ever die
We are the love I need
And we are building speed
You have a common grace
I see it in your face
I'm glaring at the denial
It's hard to be on the side of
Every full-grown and rejected angry child
I'd like to make a suggestion
That when you talk to a nation
Anyone who dares to fly above the clouds
must show his cracks and
bear the strain of heavy weather
There is no perfect guide
There's just a voice inside
It may not tell you why
But It won't ever die
We are the love I need
And we are building speed
You have a common grace
It's written in your face
Can a simple melody
Expose a travesty?
We've got a better choice
Gotta find our voice
(repeat chorus)

This Conversation
By Jon Margulies and April White
Hey let's have another fight
Argumentative and bright
We could slip into a trance
Or we could try a different dance
We aren't first things, we aren't last
We've come and gone, we're here and past
A gentle gaze, a simple ray of light
Opens everything to inspiration
Things got broken, things got strange
Something happened, nothing changed
I close my eyes and try to picture you
I'm not having this conversation
I let this conflict pass me by
I give this love another try
Nothing's different, nothing's new
I'm not even seeing you
We aren't first things, we aren't last
We've come and gone, we're here and past
The smile that paints the color on the night
Opens everything to inspiration
We aren't broken, we aren't strange
Nothing's happened, something's changed
I lift my gaze to find you in my sight
Let's keep having this conversation
